Annular solar eclipse to be visible today in Ahmedabad

A rare celestial event – an annular solar eclipse – will take place in different parts of India, including Ahmedabad on Thursday morning. An annular eclipse takes place when the moon covers the sun’s centre, leaving the sun's visible outer edges to form a ‘ring of fire’ around the moon. The department of science and technology (DST) along with Science City, Ahmedabad, as well as Gujarat Council of Science and Technology (GUJCOST), have jointly initiated an outreach programme to create awareness and encourage commoners and children about the event.
