'Western Ahmedabad at greater quake hazard risk'

Between June and August 15 this year, at least three low-intensity earthquakes were felt in Ahmedabad ahead of the state government's ambitious skyscraper policy, promising to change Ahmedabad’s skyline. But before this policy finds its way into the existing general development control regulations (GDCR), it is worth drawing one’s attention to the very recent integrated seismic hazard map for Ahmedabad city by Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). The GDCR was formulated after the 2001 quake devastation.
